Description:

This essay investigated the work of Grippo as an artist who combines art science as a means of being in the world. His vision was based on an understanding of time that privileged the aged, the used, that which has matured. In this discussion of the work I explore Grippo’s highly original vision with his firm knowledge and understanding of art in the 20th century and re-appraise his importance within contemporary practice. The essay relates my long standing interest in this artists work evidenced by contributions such as my catalogue essay for the exhibition Victor Grippo, Malba, Buenos Aires, 2004 and was further communicated via a lecture on Grippo’s work at the Camden Art Centre during the retrospective exhibition of his work (see http://icommunity.tv/node/87).
