| Description: | Weinmayr contributed the historiography of the Wikipedia article for the English collaborative art practice "Art in Ruins" that after a very visible political and artistic activity in the 1980s and 1990s fell silent. Weinmayr's multipart project "I Wonder What the Silence Was about" is based on 17 interviews with art professionals, who worked with the two artists in the past. This speculative approach is also mirrored in the attempt to write history in the Wikipedia article in question undergoing continual revisions, which Weinmayr exhibits in the volume. |

| Additional Information (Publicly available): | Internal Necessity was the topic of the Sommerakademie 2009, curated by Tirdad Zolghadr. One year on, we are pleased to present a corresponding publication, initiated and co-edited by the Fellows. The result is an independent reader that does not aim to merely document the academy 2009, but reflects and develops its topics in a rich diversity of visual and textual forms. Developed by the Fellows and invited guest contributors these include short essays and graphic designs as well as letters, image spreads and skype conversations. The volume argues for publications as sites of art production alongside studio practice and exhibition making. As a visual object with a particular aesthetic it reflects and continues the intensive dialogue of last year’s academy. Contributions by Sommerakademie Fellows 2009 (Gürsoy Dogtas, Claire Feeley, Linda Franke, Agnieszka Kurant, Bettina Malcomess, Mariangela Mendez Prencke, Uriel Orlow, Judith Raum, Shirana Shahbazi, Oraib Toukan, Ricardo Valentim, Erik Wenzel) with Ethan Breckenridge, Alice Creisher, Krist Gruijthuijsen, Bruce Hainley, Rahel Jaeggi, Matthew Jesse Jackson, Manuel Krebs, Dorothee Kreutzfeldt, Suhail Malik, Matthew Metzger, Ivor Powell, Hans Rudolf Reust, Victor Manuel Rodriguez, Maggie Taft, W.A.G.E., Eva Weinmayr |
