State your business

Group exhibition. Leigh Clarke curated this project and his own work was included in the exhibition - 10 X 4m vinyl banners, hanging outside the Museum of Breda.

State Your Business is a project that brought together a group of practitioners concerned with communication through language, typography and images. Those involved joined in solidarity to transcend the restraints of commercial activity and push forward messages that endeavoured to influence change and challenge the subject pocketing of their industries. The cohort bombarded the spectator with a range of political, social and subliminal messages that inspired debate and pro-activeness in the LOKAAL01 project space and the city of Breda.

Each contributor was given travel, accommodation and production funding. WORKSHOP and Monica Biagoli were given funding for residency placements: WORKSHOP at The Plantin Morteus Museum in Antwerp and Biagoli at LOKAAL01 space.

The exhibition took place in the LOKAAL01 space and in key public spaces. A full colour publication was produced as a 5000 edition of newspapers and disseminated via ‘paper boys and girls’ during Breda’s Culture Night festival . A map was made to help navigate the public around the city to find the work.
