Some opening words

Melvin, Jo (2015) Some opening words. In: Jason File: An Ornament and a Safeguard. Aleph, London, pp. 2-10. ISBN 978-0-9933051-0-8

Type of Research: Book Section
Creators: Melvin, Jo
Description:

Essay to accompany 'Jason File: An Ornament and a Safeguard' exhibition at The Ryder Projects, London 29 April - 6 June 2015. The essay is based on the opening address given by Melvin to launch the exhibition. The exhibition project presents the mirror costing of the project which was made possible through the award of the Mead Scholarship. Using the protocols of institutional critique to render the budget transparent the exhibition questions the status of a pound coin by drawing attention to the writing surrounding the coin, translated from the Latin, 'an ornament and a safeguard'.
