Black British style: documentary film

A documentary film was commissioned to be screened in the exhibition 'Black British Style' and to thematically include some areas not covered by the exhibition. The film was researched through historical sources and specially conducted interviews, and highlights the cultural origins of Black British style, the importance of maintaining the legacy of cultural identity, the connections with music particularly hip-hop and r&b, the value of cultural icons seen in film and other media and the key part played by male conspicuous consumption. The film reveals that the cut of your cloth can be seen as the key to your heritage and the cut of your hair, the story of your life.
