Lost and Framed in Green

Keane, Tina (2007) Lost and Framed in Green. [Art/Design Item]

Type of Research: Art/Design Item
Creators: Keane, Tina
Description:

This installation of three linked pieces was the result of a commission for a solo show of new work for the 2007 Women’s Arts International Festival. The Festival invited contributions from women artists and writers covering film, theatre and the visual arts, including Germaine Greer, a Native American artist Linda Lomahaftewa showing for the first time outside of America, Stella Vine a young British painter.

“Lost and Framed in Green” continues my concern with issues of memory, and evocation through image and sound. It is an inter-active conceptual piece that combines the rural and the cityscape. The three works in the installation can be seen as 3D images in a storyboard that stimulates the audiences’ hidden memories.

The art works exhibited were: A 7ft.neon word sign ‘isfeminismmerelyasynonym’ made in purple neon. A floor projection loop of a time-lapse flower in negative, opening up and dying. A set of eight photographs of a deserted garden, including a decaying rowing boat lying on the ground, and a lopsided swing hanging from a tree, exploring the sense loss and memory.
