| Description: | This article explores the significant leadership challenge in the art and cultural sector, evidenced by the under-representation of black and people of color in key leadership roles expected to be influential in promoting cultural diversity. The lack of diversity is stifling the culture change necessary for creativity and innovation. Using jazz as a metaphor for social change, this essay is a call for action motivated by social, cultural and economic value of cultural diversity. The article also evidences how I have incorporated informed approaches from my research,scholarship and professional development into teaching and learning as an important resource for decolonising the curriculum. |
