Antonopoulou, Alexandra and Antonaki, Katerina (2016) Let's have a laugh. In: Laughter in Visual Communication, 21-22 October 2016, National Audiovisual Institute (NInA), Warsaw.

Type of Research: Conference, Symposium or Workshop Item
Creators: Antonopoulou, Alexandra and Antonaki, Katerina
Description:

What if we laugh more? What happens if conversations were transformed to laughter? Will it lead to babel or will it be a common language that transforms emotions and evokes new ones? An experience that challenges the way we communicate through pleasure.

Let’s have a laugh was a paper presented by Alexandra Antonopoulou and Katerina Antonaki at the international conference Laughter in Visual Communication held at the National Audiovisual Institute (NInA), Warsaw. The study included software created in collaboration with Eleanor Dare. The paper interrogates the interface between speech and laughter. The software exposes the boundaries of language's ability to articulate human experience, in particular the limits of symbolic representation to capture that which is embodied and often sub-symbolic.

The wider conference was 'devoted to the role of sense of humor in communication, problem and conflict solving in the Age of Robots.'
