Additional Information (Publicly available): | In the modern world, the topics of high technology and future communication between people is being eagerly discussed. Constant technological progress is pushing civilisation forward, but at the same time it can be removing elements of authentic human interaction, unbiased communication and meaningful exchanges in the real world. During the performance, the audience have an exclusive view of two separate worlds: the physical and the illusory, existing at the same moment in time. Both the dancers and animated characters use the space we build (windows, doors and fabric) to connect the two worlds together. The windows create opportunities for the physical and digital characters to peek through, to flirt with each other, to play and to communicate through sign and body language. Through the use of projectors and layered transparent fabric, the animation is duplicated in different sizes and locations; taking the film out of its’ flat screen mode and beginning to exist in physical space. The dancers interacting with the digital characters break the rational barrier between illusory and physical, portraying a multiverse of simultaneous happenings and interactions. The dancers attempt to reach the digital characters by removing the fabrics one by one, reducing the layers of projection until the illusory worlds are united on a singular projection and the dancers leave the space. The dancers cannot physically reach the digital characters’ dimension, however subtly highlights the question of a future possibility: will people cease to exist and the artificial live on? HYOC2020________________________________________________________ Hertfordshire Year of Culture 2020 Time to celebrate! We used 12 monthly themes to help direct activities and produced newsletters to highlight stories of creativity, culture and heritage from across the county: January - Try Something New Whilst many things were cancelled during 2020, creativity certainly wasn't. To reflect back on 2020 and as the last part of the campaign, we hosted the HYOC2020 Celebration Event online on 2 March 2021. The event gave a chance to hear from key partners about the campaign, the outcomes of our Health and Wellbeing Evaluation and plans for the future, as well as an opportunity for anyone involved in creativity in Hertfordshire to share their experiences of 2020 and make new connections. Have a look at the We Are Creative Hertfordshire pages here to see how you can stay in touch with the new campaign to share the breadth and depth of culture, creativity and heritage in Hertfordshire. How did the Year go? Public Health Evaluation Year of Culture in Numbers HYOC2020 Partners from the creative sector across the county have shared their favourite creative activities as well as a little about themselves. All the activities included can be done at home and don't need any special equipment. Some are craft-based, but others are about talking to our family and friends and making connections. It aims to bring together tribal, folk, classical and contemporary art forms and artists from all over the world under one roof and develop and present a program / exhibition that challenges traditional thinking and encourages new levels of enthusiasm for innovative creative expression. ODISHA BIENNALE presents a 1 week exhibition, a program of artist talks, performances, workshops, film screenings, guided tours and other special events. We are also interested in the link between creative practice and social development, in the links between the local, Japan and global contexts. The workshop by artists would be held in underprivileged communities as well. Our programs promote the exchange of art and ideas through workshops, staging, and exhibiting arts and work globally and locally, bringing together an international vision of art and cross-cultural exchange with a commitment to the community involvement and the enrichment of Odisha’s cultural resources. Each time, ODISHA BIENNALE would strive to collaborate with local artists and craftsmen, to build a platform that promotes Odisha’s position within the international sphere. Through partnerships with Japan and international voices, ODISHA BIENNALE aims to support an Odia cultural identity that is both locally rooted and internationally relevant. ODISHA BIENNALE will establish workshops for children lead by local and international cultural practitioners to promote access to contemporary culture for all ages. During ODISHA BIENNALE, we aim to highlight ODISHA as a dynamic hub for current ideas and an open society that encourages freedom of expression and debate, as well as sponsoring significant and lasting benefits for the area and its inhabitants, socially, economically and culturally. Mudra Foundation started in 2009 with the aim of sharing art and creativity. In the picturesque city of Bhubaneswar, in the culturally rich state of Odisha. Mudra Foundation has been thriving, since it’s existence to unify artists from various genres and segments, to inspire people, to propagate art and culture and eventually, take an effort to touch people from all sections of the society. Being an initiative by artists, Mudra Foundation has also tried, from time to time, to contribute to the cause of the underprivileged people through its creative skills. We believe that we can discover the potential of special needs people and share happiness through art. Mudra Foundation lives with the aim to create a space for all, where people from any social background or creative discipline can join hands to be a part, contribute to the cause of the organisation and carry forward our aim and objective in the future. website: http://www.odishabiennale.com/ |
