The beginning of a beautiful friendship: A case study on an immersive filmmaking process

Directors have had to evolve their vision, practice and communication skills to keep up with the rapid development of creative technology and distribution. This has often led to the adoption of ad hoc practices with little scope for reflection within industry and education. This chapter offers a case-study exploration of the relationship the director’s vision, the sound design and visual effects. The case study, The Crossing, is an award-winning multi-platform film designed to maximise the immersive experience of a trafficked woman’s journey.
