Description:	A particular politics of abstraction figure centrally in the current show at Tate St Ives: those formulated by the members of the Casablanca Art School. Established after Morocco’s independence in 1956, the school was led by professors who brought with them an international network that they continued to build, thereby interweaving practices from different regions and times with the aim of transforming the Western institution of the art academy. Original works as well as archival materials introduce a British audience to this locally grounded and transnationally connected modernism for the first time.
