No Tomorrow

The work in the exhibition 'No Tomorrow' stems from what seems to be the increasingly, overwhelming feeling that a sense of lived time is being displaced by the time of the world; an endless grid, being shackled to devices that address us directly, denying us volition to act upon our spheres as a finite and measured life. This feeling of a temporal aporia is perhaps a feeling that there is no tomorrow. This was a pretext for this series of works, rather than an idea, and came from a need to explore this feeling, possibly in the hope of recuperating an active sense of the present. This was initially being explored as a book but has been superseded by these photo-collage reliefs. The images come from my own photo-archive taken since 2000 as digital media from various species of phone and compact Canon cameras, spanning image resolutions and formats and integrated into an A4 format. Each image is composed from 2 prints. Rather than being collaged directly onto each other they are spaced apart on 5mm wooden filets, displaced into the literal depth of a relief structure. 26 works were exhibited.
