Echoes from Elsewhere? From Archeoacoustics to Sonic Cyberfeminisms

Goh, Annie (2026) Echoes from Elsewhere? From Archeoacoustics to Sonic Cyberfeminisms. In: Reflexio cycle, 26 March 2026, Sorbonne School of Arts, University of Paris.

Type of Research: Conference, Symposium or Workshop Item
Creators: Goh, Annie
Description:

In this lecture, Annie Goh will present her research on the production of sonic knowledge and the figure of the echo. After introducing the field of archaeoacoustics, or acoustic archaeology, she will describe what she considers the hegemonic "here" of sonic knowledge production and contrast it with a speculative, politico-philosophical "elsewhere," drawing on her fieldwork experience. She will thus seek to reconceptualize the echo as a feminist and decolonial sonic representation. Finally, she will present how some of these ideas have been translated into her artistic practice under the heading "Sonic Cyberfeminisms"
