This paper examines virtual scenography as a performative process through the reconfiguration of Chinese shadow puppetry. Rather than treating the shadow screen as the defining condition of Pi-Ying-Xi, it considers how scenography reorganises relationships between bodies, puppets, participants and digital environments in virtual and mixed reality.
