Description: | This paper focused on Seth Siegelaub's 'summer exhibition' which was the July/August 1970 issue of Studio International magazine, which he edited as a guest at the invitation of the editor Peter Townsend. Siegelaub in turn offered 6 critics 8 pages each to give to artists to use as they pleased. Siegelaub's only stipulations were that the critics must not write explanatory texts or prefaces to the work shown and that any text included should be printed in English, French and German was appointed. Attention was also drawn the publication of Siegelaub's artist right and transfer of sales agreement, in April 1971. This contract drawn up with the assistance of Robert Projansky, NYC based lawyer would enable the artist to royalties on subsequent sales. The magazine was the first widely distributed publication of the contract. |
