Post Box Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of new works by British artist Joey Bryniarska.

This exhibition will consist of large-scale toned silver gelatin prints, accompanied by a reference manual made by the artist.

Bryniarska recycles cultural matter. Matter that is manifest in hard copy form.
Image matter; the Profile, the Manual, the Practical, the Handbuch, the Which?, the How, the Now, the Basic, the ABC, the Model, the Digest, the Art, the Twentieth Century.

And textual matter; the Colophon, the Introduction, the Prolegomenon, the Foreword, the Subtitle, the Translation, the Dedication, the Unqualification, the Lyric and the Cliché.

By recycling this outdated pedagogic imagery and secondary textual material, Bryniarska manipulates our qualitative associative impulses towards images and words and the hierarchical shifts, power struggles and cleavages between these two forms of representation.
