The Craft of Wallpaper

The Craft of Wallpaper is an exhibition of wallpapers by 11 of the UK’s most innovative makers, curated by design writer Charlotte Abrahams and sponsored by Graham & Brown.

Linda Florence wallpapers are silk screen printed by hand in London using water based inks on luxury non-woven wallpaper produced from FSC certified forests. This bespoke production enables papers to be personalised for each project and colours adapted to the client’s needs. This flexibility also gives an ability to create designs that respond to individual architectural spaces.

1. Morphic Damask Hand Screen Printed Wallpaper with gold metallic foil

2. Fitzgerald Egyptian Blue
The Fitzgerald wallpaper design was inspired by the decadence and excess of the Roaring Twenties with its large scale florals and bold flowing curves.

3. Wally Tiles
The Wally Tiles wallpaper design was inspired by the ornate decorative tiles found in the Glasgow tenements from the 1880s.

4. Kaleidoscope Blue Screen Printed Wallpaper

‘Wallpaper is ubiquitous, but it is under-appreciated as a craft,’ says the show’s curator, design writer and long-time wallpaper addict, Charlotte Abrahams. ‘I hope this exhibition, which features work by Claire Coles, Elise Menghini, Waybreads, Graham & Brown, Identity Papers, Juliet Chadwick, Linda Florence, Erica Wakerly, Fromental, CUSTHOM and Tracy Kendall, will raise wallpaper beyond the decorative and demonstrate the real skills involved in its making.’
