Description: | Metropole uses double exposures of London’s new architecture to explore the spatial and social transformation of the city. First published as a book in March 2015, Metropole received international attention and rapidly sold out. A reprint of the book has been made to accompany the exhibition and is available online and from the Whitechapel Gallery bookshop for the duration of the exhibition. For this exhibition, the first of four curated by Andy Lawson for INSide OUT, Metropole was re-imagined for the wall. Prints were produced in the The Cass’s reknowned architecture department using the school’s large format architectural plotters, printers normally used for producing building plans. Located at the heart of Whitechapel, an area experiencing dramatic change of the sort depicted in Metropole, this exhibition was an opportunity to continue my interest in displaying work in locations which are being directly impacted by the same issues and processes that my photographs depict. |
