| Description: | Undercurrent is a commission for the newly designed extension of Kunsthalle Mainz, built on the foundation of an old power station. Corresponding to the process of creating energy Hamann compressed, digitally squashed, the image to fit on this 12-meter wall of the museum. The imagery was taken at Tivoli Copenhagen. Hamann is interested in the connection of pleasure parks and cinema which both depended on the invention of electricity. The installation included videos Assmannshausen developed during a residency at Künstlerhaus Schloss Balmoral, Germany in 2007 |
