Description: | UK/Japan 2016, 16mm film installation, colour, black & white, silent, 9 mins. Exhibited in 'Complex Topographies: movement and change' 14 September - 6 November, Shoko Shoreikan, Ritsurin Garden, Takamatsu, Japan, as part of the Setouchi Triennale 2016. A gallery installation formed from a short, silent 16mm film combining images of a Japanese gardener painstakingly pruning a pine tree – making a series of tiny decisions intended to constrain its height and shape its growth over time – and art students at The Royal Academy Schools in London as they reveal architectural plaster casts hidden for 30 years. |
