Description: | Anne McCloy is BAD is an artwork and logo developed as a direct reference from and to 'Andy Warhol's BAD'. Andy Warhol's signature has been cut and pasted, manipulated and collaged to form Anne McCloy is BAD. In Warhol's Factory style of mass reproduction, print and performance, the artwork is transformed into a self inking rubber stamp capable of art vandalism, leaving the artist's mark wherever she chooses and without permission. In the case of this specific work the artist, without permission, marks the plinth displaying the work of Gavin Turk claiming both space and recognition and referencing the themes of the exhibition, art as object, commodity, objection and protest. 'OBJECT-CULTURE : Art As Viral Commodity'. "The exhibition concerns the creative, intrinsic and problematic relationship between Art and Object, that is our contemporary stereotype of art as object, as commodity, and of the artwork as objection, that is, as a form of protest in the most general sense." Paul Sakoilsky, 2010. |
