Description: | "Archeology implies a burrowing down into something to uncover hidden layers of the past, while architecture suggests the part-by-part construction of a durable structure. The two are tightly intertwined, as the architecture of the present inevitably becomes the subject of the archaeology of the future. It is along these lines that we may speak of contemporary approaches to art-making. For artists today, painting is no longer simply a received practice of applying pigment to canvas; rather, the term now encompasses a diversity of ways in which various materials and processes can be framed and thus presented to the viewer for analysis and contemplation." |
