Buffer Overflow: Digital Synanthropes, Multi-stable Objects, Neophyte Familiars

The crawl space is what got me. The space, they said, between the inner and outer dome. Interior frontier. Formulating this passage as buffer, an overflow zone, some kind of space for bodily insertion into the psychic infra-structural. A retreat from light? Spyholes. Cobwebs. Fragmented insights. Soma and system. Ricochet and echo.

I called this presentation Buffer Overflow in the attempt to figure what goes on between disciplines or discrete areas. A data buffer is memory used temporarily to store output or input data while it is transferred. What happens when memory is written beyond the bounds designated for its location? This is generally characterised as an attack, a self-propagating worm for instance.

It started as an experiment, a set of encounters with sites and objects of the British Neolithic, unable to remain unattached, spilling over into technicities of indigeneity, animacy, unsettled objects and virtual spaces.
