Description: | This chapter uses narratives from feature film cinematographers taken from a larger body of ethnographic research conducted by the author. It examines the logistical challenges, personal identifications and professional expectations that characterise the lives of highly mobile feature film cinematographers. Interviews were conducted at Camerimage International Festival of the Art of Cinematography, Łódz, Poland, over a four-year period. The researcher trained in this discipline herself and the chapter is part of ongoing research into the matrix of agency and practice in the lives of cinematographers, who engage in creative collaborative work in the film industry, which has specific power, historical and technological dynamics. |
