At the invitation of Alexander Balgiu, Paul Bailey, Sophie Demay and a group of MA Graphic Media Design participants opened the Designing Writing Symposium at ECAL, Switzerland.

The essay as a site for critical enquiry and practice. The essay as a form of attempt (Essayer in French). The essay as a fragment, wandering. The essay which does not seek to find absolute truths (Adorno).

The video was projected during Sssssprint, a proposal by Paul Bailey and Sophie Demay, looking at forms of writing around/through design. This was part of Designing Writing, an editosensorial event at the crossroads of graphic design & literature, of publishing & poetry proposed by Alexandru Balgiu.
