Bosnians - Solo Touring Exhibition, 2005-7

Lowe, Paul (2007) Bosnians - Solo Touring Exhibition, 2005-7. [Show/Exhibition]

Type of Research: Show/Exhibition
Creators: Lowe, Paul
Description:

167c
In conjunction with the launch of the Saqi book (output 1) Lowe was invited to prepare an exhibition to mark the signing of the Dayton Peace Accord, which highlighted a decade of Bosnia’s tragedies and survival. The exhibition consisted of 36 black and white lightjet digital C type archive prints, 17 of which were large format (1.2mx0.8m)

The exhibition presented a unique opportunity of reaching much wider audience than the Saqi publication and, in particular, taking the images back to their key locations where they were made in order to contribute to the ongoing rebuilding of society in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This enabled Lowe to achieve more of his original social and ethnographic intentions. For the British Council which part-funded the exhibition tour, it also celebrated a ten year history of its cultural partnership with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Lowe was active in selecting sites for the exhibition and creating a different presentation for each venue. The exhibition was first shown at the Side Gallery, Newcastle –upon-Tyne 08/05/07-19/06/07. Other notable venues include the UN headquarters in Geneva and the Visa pour I’image festival of Photojournalism 01/09/05-21/09/05:
