A Coven A Grove A Stand is an installation of seven works relating to ongoing research that responds to seven out of 270 sites nominated by the public for New Geographies, a three-year project remapping the East of England through unexplored or overlooked places. Rediscovering the persecution of witches, and reimagining the landscape, the project explores the intersection of folklore and history, voice, place, collective remembrance, and retrospective witnessing. The installation interweaves sculpture, sound, moving image and text, with hand-embroidered pieces by local communities. A Coven A Grove A Stand was commissioned by Firstsite as part of New Geographies, a project initiated by the East Contemporary Visual Arts Network, coordinated by Wysing Arts Centre. Made possible through funding from the National Lottery through Arts Council England Ambition for Excellence Fund.
