| Description: | In this article I place my participation in live artist Anne Bean’s workshop at Artsadmin’s Toynbee Studios in conversation with Victorian labour practices, eighteenth century European political philosophy and deindustrialisation. I argue that the contemporary value of play as a counterpoint to work within practices and discourses of theatre and performance needs considerable rethinking. |
