Description: | The Raft of the Medusa film completes the artistic journey of the 2013 artwork of the same name, transforming it into an immersive audio-visual installation and expanding on its original themes of exploration and migration. First presented at Yorkshire Sculpture Park (2013), performance responses to the work were staged and filmed there and at Les Moulins (2015) and Humber Street Gallery (2017), to draw out new narratives in relation to the object and subject matter, and with the eventual intention for the films to become part of the work. This new installation is presented for the first time at the ‘Mariner: a painted ship upon a painted ocean’ exhibition, opening at the Arts Institute Plymouth, and touring to The Edge, Bath and John Hansard Gallery, Southampton. |
