Description: | This book gathers together in a new configuration twenty one essays on Brazilian artists over the five decades that I have worked as an art critic. The collection focuses on my engagement with certain artists, which happened to be Brazilian. Although I had never set out to be a specialist on Brazilian art, my critical trajectory has benefited significantly from the contact I have had with that region, and likewise, my writing has, over the years offered a route for the international dissemination of such practices. By placing all these essays together, one is allowed to perceive more clearly the development of a personal critical discourse, which is juxtaposed with the concurrent development and recognition of the artists themselves. |
