Preliminares

February 27 2021, Espaço C-A-M-A (São Paulo), an initiative coordinated by 5 art galleries from 4 different cities, opens the exhibition 'Preliminares'. The group show brings together works by 25 Brazilian and international artists who work with the galleries and is intended to be a prelude to the future programming of the space. C-A-M-A is located in a two-story house in the Modernist Village designed in the 1930s by artist Flávio de Carvalho in the Jardim Paulista neighborhood.

C-A-M-A (Collaboration among Art Market Agents) is a project founded by a group of young contemporary art galleries active in the local and international market, such as the Portuguese Kubikgallery, the Rio de Janeiro-based Cavalo, the Minas Gerais-based Periscópio, and the São Paulo-based Casanova and 55SP.

Starting from heterogeneity and consensus as the main characteristics of the enterprise, the members set themselves the challenge of creating in 'Preliminaries' an initial show in which the exercise of cooperation would be the subliminal theme. Thus, each gallery invited a group of artists with no prior knowledge of which works the other spaces would exhibit, adding unpredictability and stimulating negotiations and concessions among the members.
