Description: | 'RoCH Fans and Legends' is a body of work commissioned for two solo exhibitions staged at QUAD, Derby, in 2015 and CFCCA (Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art), Manchester, 2016. The project draws on the prolific film and television adaptations of The Condor Trilogy (1957-61), a classic ‘new wuxia’ epic by Louis Cha aka Jin Yong, to explore the genre’s recurring tropes and translations in diasporic popular culture. Exhibited works included single-channel and multi-channel moving image for gallery and online, site-specific drawing and wallpaper, a limited edition concertina multiple, and an unlimited artist e-book. Works are listed as individual Art/Design items: RoCH Fans & Legends (Entries / Variations), 2013/18 hand-finished inkjet prints; Drawings, 2014; Covers I and II, 2015, animated drawings; Trailers, 2015, single-channel video, 4 mins; Trilogies, 2015, 3-screen moving image installation, 65 mins; Condor, 2015, chalk on wall; RoCH Fan, 2015, concertina multiple; RoCH Fans and Legends, 2017, unlimited artist freeebook. |
