Stylist: Etymology and History of a Role draws from material gathered for my PhD research, which explored the emergence of the fashion stylist as a distinct freelance role in conjunction with the development of alternative forms of youth publishing in Britain in the 1980s. The chapter introduces Lynge-Jorlen's anthology of interviews and case studies, a publication that provides a range of perspectives on the processes and practices of the fashion stylist.
