Description: | Live Performance The performance Utopia was devised through design-Led methodology using visual dramaturgy as the catalyst for the devising process. It was a new work devised collectively between Valentina Ceschi, Guoda Jaruševiciute & Kate Lane under the collective 'Brave New Worlds' Utopia was a visual exploration of the concept of ‘utopia’ as the place “just beyond” the horizon, an ideal you can’t quite see or reach, and a nostalgic ever-place that is formed in the audience’s mind. The performance is a collaboration with writer Thomas Eccleshare, lighting designer Beatrice Rocchi, and composer Caroline Devine, with additional choreography by Joe Wild. The piece was originally developed through a Barbican Pit Lab in 2013 and performed as a work-in-progress at the Yard Theatre in Hackney Wick, London. It was developed further at The Point (link), Eastleigh with performances at the MK Gallery, Milton Keynes and Block 336, London. UTOPIA was selected as part of the UK Pavilion as part of the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space in 2015. |
