“This page intentionally left blank” is a performative presentation reflecting on the process of developing and producing Third Hand, a performance by Vlatka Horvat realised in Chicago in 2019. Third Hand was one of nine international commissions by the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs & Special Events (DCASE) for their Goat Island Archive project, May 2019. It was developed at a residency at The Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts in Chicago in Feb 2019.

The presentation was followed by a panel discussion with members of Goat Island and several other artists commissioned for the same project in 2019, focusing on what can be learned by engaging an archive with live performance. The event was presented in conjunction with the release of Yale University’s Theater Journal issue (Vol. 50:2) which examines the ‘aftermath’ of working with the archive of Goat Island.

The event was organised by Nicholas Lowe, Program Chair of Historical Preservation at SAIC – The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and hosted by Theatre Magazine and Goat Island Archive (John M. Flaxman Library Special Collections at the School Of The Art Institute of Chicago)
