Description: | 'Cultural Field' is a collaborative performance and film work that takes place on the stage of a football pitch in Hackney, London. Through a 5-a-side football match between two fictional teams - Anti-capitalists UTD and Capitalist City, this performance explores history of rights to land and rights to space in the city, from historic enclosure of the commons, to present day exclusion of women, trans and non-binary people from football pitches. With characters played by real life women, trans and non-binary footballers, activists and terrible-at-football performance artists this work seeks to use interdisciplinary participatory performance to educate and express political topics of gendered and racial exclusion to public space. Film is currently in post production. |
