Sex, Work, and Negative Affects in Participatory Performance

In this piece, artist Owen G. Parry reflects on his own practice, and particularly a series of one-to-one performances. In this reflection, he tests the limits of what’s allowed in performance, asks when performance stops being performance, and accounts for some of the complicated effects and affects that can arise in this kind of work. Parry also considers how we are permitted to write about highly inter-subjective work, particularly as an artist writing about one’s own work.
