Exhibiting Biography: Queering the Exhibition

Horsley, Jeffrey (2019) Exhibiting Biography: Queering the Exhibition. In: EFHA International Conference 2019: Fashion and the Politics of Heritage, 8-9 November 2019, London College of Fashion.

Type of Research: Conference, Symposium or Workshop Item
Creators: Horsley, Jeffrey
Description:

Based on my practice as an exhibition-maker and curator, this paper explores relationships between autobiography and etymology of 'queer', examining how a 'queer' curatorial practice can impact on not only the subjects engaged with but also the approach to exhibition-making. Examples reference include the exhibitions 'Gluck: Art & Identity', (Brighton Museum and Art gallery, 2017) and Derek Jarman 'Queer' (Manchester Art Gallery, 1992).
