Description: | The feasibility of simultaneous reactive dyeing and crease resistant finishing of cotton fabrics in a single step process under acidic conditions was done to economize on dyeing and finishing. The fixation of dyes ranged from 60 to 99% depending upon the nature of the dye. Dyes containing amino and hydroxyl groups showed higher fixation level. The properties of the finished fabric, ie color fixation percentage, crease recovery, strength loss and wash fastness, were comparable to those of the fabrics dyed and finished by the conventional double step process. |
