Description: | DAZZLE: A Re-Assembly of Bodies is a multi-dimensional choreography and immersive installation combining performance, virtual reality and fashion created by Gibson, Martelli, Pollmann and Roth. A dance for VR with shapeshifting optical forms gives audiences layered viewpoints into virtual and physical space, transforming the venue. Step onto the stage to watch, move, and experience dance in novel ways. Influenced by the early 20th century Dazzle camouflage and Vorticist artworks, A Re-Assembly of Bodies evokes a visceral response to dazzle. Drawing from the rhythms and colours of naval camouflage, the DAZZLE Collective designed unique, sustainable, non- gendered outfits for visitors. In DAZZLE, we become art objects shrouded in garments and technologies of vision, breaking the fourth wall, inclusive and collective, a space for commoning, beyond narrative, language, body and gender hierarchies. The audience, physical avatars in the installation space. The original ‘Dazzle Ball’ occurred at the Royal Albert Hall, London, in 1919—creativity emerging from catastrophe has particular resonance today. Staying true to this joyous spirit, we’re developing performances as artists- in-residence at Virtual Production Test Stage to sit alongside the immersive experience. DAZZLE crosses borders and territories. Future live performance enabled by technology—forward-looking with an eye on the past. |
