Dobai, Sarah (2012) Study. [Performance]
Type of Research: | Performance |
---|---|
Creators: | Dobai, Sarah |
Description: | Performance first commissioned by Whitechapel Art Gallery and subsequently at Spike Island, transferred aspects of a film/photography shoot to the live context of the gallery. Study drew on my own process of production in the studio, with models performing as if to camera. The performance draws on my own process of production in the studio, and on a repertoire of gestures and scenarios familiar from the history of portrait photography and cinema. The performances bore some relation to Twenty Second Hold, witnessing actor/ models preparing and enacting a series of still scenarios in the tradition of tableaux vivants. Study foregrounded aspects of enactment and display in everyday behaviour of subjects in a public setting. |
