Scenography for contemporary dance piece 'Is this a dance?' by LAVAEL, Lola Maury & Eva Recacha

Devised touring dance piece for children commissioned by The Place and supported by Arts Council England. It performed at the Egg, Bath; The Junction, Cambridge and the Place London. The wider schools tour included a Bengali translated version.

The scenography was developed within the rehearsal space as part of the research & development process. The piece was developed through community engagement with a primary school in Hackney & aimed to create a more inclusive approach to where and how contemporary dance is show.

The piece examined contemporary dance and it's origins as a form of human self-expression in an attempt to de-mystify the art form for a wider younger audience, developing a language of interpretation for a young audience allowing.
