Description: | How is illustration interwoven with our understanding of the natural world? Stephanie Black and Luise Vormittag contemplate our discipline’s potential to explore, understand and represent nature. This is the first of four working papers, containing a substantive survey article by Black and Vormittag, alongside a number of other, shorter contributions by other practitioners and thinkers. This publication explores the impact illustration currently has on our ideas of "nature" and the possibilities of critical illustration practice to make meaningful interventions in our understanding of the natural world. Colouring In is a collaborative research project by Dr Stephanie Black (Kingston School of Art) and Luise Vormittag (Camberwell College of Arts, UAL), through which we are examining the impact of illustration on themes of critical importance to global debates. |
