A Tribute to Beryl Gilroy: A presentation and panel discussion to mark the book launch of Black Teacher

Renaissance One, a collective of producers, curators, and writers based in regions around England, reflect the contemporary literature ecology of the 21st century.
Beryl Gilroy's memoir, first published in 1976, recounts her experiences as a young teacher who left British Guiana to study in London in 1952, only to be faced with a racist post-war society.Nevertheless she forged a revolutionary career as one of Britain's first Black headteachers.

Darla-Jane Gilroy was invited along with Yansé Cooper and Hannah Lowe (Chair) to give a short presentation about Beryl Gilroy's work and take part in a panel discussion about her impact and legacy and share insights on changes in education and teaching practice over the years including progressive approaches to child-centred learning that were pioneered by Beryl Gilroy.
