Description: | LIMB TO LIMB TO LIMB figures a fragmented, distributed, laboring body of bodies that takes formal cues from aqueducts and circulatory infrastructures. The work is a spatial intervention composed of pulleys, chains, hooks, printed posters, and mirrored plexiglass. I was interested in responding to the history of the exhibition space which is in the bathhouse of an early 20th century municipal housing project in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The textual element of this work reflects on fluid dynamics as a tool for studying crowds; the distribution, assembly, and logistics of labor; and points where infrastructures—and bodies—might break down, collapse, or lapse. Installation commissioned for smoothing (lines into circles), group exhibition at A Tale of a Tub, Rotterdam, the Netherlands, 2022 |
