Time Manipulation applied to the creation of choreography for the screen

This study outlines the use of time-manipulation in video (fast, slow, and reverse motion) as a creative tool in the choreographic process of videodance making. It investigates the idea that video is a 'time form' and explores the potential of time-manipulation within a choreographic context. The research examines not only how choreography can affect video, but specifically how video editing techniques can affect choreography.

The output includes insights on 'choreographing in the edit'—a process where structure is imposed on filmed material during post-production rather than created live. The study proposes that videodance creation evolves in a cyclical dialogue: moving from the performers’ bodies to the screen, and then back to the screen to inform the body.
