Description: | Toussaint L'Ouverture at Bedourete (2004, oil on linen, 183 x 136 cm) Bacchus and Ariadne (2004, oil on linen, 152 x 152 cm) Portrait of the Artist Helping With Enquiries: 1984 (2005, oil on canvas, 152 x 152 cm) For Moses Had Married An Ethiopian Woman (Numbers 12:1) (2015, oil & acrylic paints on canvas, 210 x 165 cm) The above works exhibited were exhibited in the group show 'Diaspora Pavilion' at the Palazzo Pisani Santa Marina, Venice, 13 May – 27 November 2017. 'Toussaint L'Ouverture at Bedourete' and 'Bacchus and Ariadne' were first exhibited in the solo exhibition 'Caribbean Passion: Haiti 1804' at the Bettie Morton Gallery, London (4 November–28 November, 2004). 'Portrait of the Artist Helping With Enquiries: 1984' was first exhibited in the solo exhibition 'Fall/Uprising' at the Bettie Morton Gallery, London, (4 November–3 December, 2005). 'For Moses Had Married An Ethiopian Woman (Numbers 12:1)' was first exhibited in the solo exhibition 'Some Clarity of Vision' at Gallery Momo, Johannesburg, South Africa (8 September–12 October, 2015). The Diaspora Pavilion exhibition was accompanied by a 54-page printed booklet, also available as an online pdf. |
