Description: | 'Ted's Bar' is an everyday story of transvestites, bisexuality and accountants. Using the taxi as a confessional, Brian Dawn Chalkley retells a conversation in a bar. Confusingly, all the characters speak with the same voice and, just as one person melds into another, so the conversation moves effortlessly from idle chit-chat to explicit sexual detail. This sound piece raises many questions about identity, reality, truth and fantasy but here are some facts: Brian Dawn Chalkley IS a transvestite living in London, and Ted's Bar does exist - ask a cabbie to take you there. Cab Gallery is also showing Brian Dawn Chalkley's new book "Dawn in Wonderland" published by platform. |
