Desublimating the Gestalt: Towards an Archaeology of Robert Morris's Anti Form

Book chapter exploring the transition in Robert Morris's practice and theoretical writings between his mid-1960s minimalist and his late-1960s anti form positions. Morris's relation to Robert Smithson over this period is given particular focus in an analysis of the continuities (especially around Morris's interest in phenomenology) and discontinuities (his rejection of the 'gestalt' that formed the basis of his minimalist theorising) that characterise these years of Morris's career.
