Variations

This book brings together imagery from Nichols' ongoing series, Variations. In the series, Nichols sheds a theatrical light on the process of sculptural construction, bringing it into the space of performance and exhibition. Discarded industrial materials are brought together in a continuous process of making and remaking.

In this book, Nichols’ drawings in space are interspersed with line drawings that seem to float on the page, while other observational images of materials take on an almost lunar appearance. These silent fragments from the Variations combine to suggest new constellations of possibility and potential.
